Jo our very own NAO Robot recently visited Alawa Primary School demonstrating to students that coding can be fun. Teaching coding and digital literacy skills is an important part of the Northern Territory Government’s educational strategy helping students to develop the skills they need for the future. Demonstrating the NAO Robot to schools has greatly helped to improve students engagement in coding in a fun and inclusive way.
Students also learned how to program Parrot Mambo drones and Spheros in under an hour. Part of the challenge was to create a simple program that knocked over Darth Vadar, Yoda or a Storm Trooper. Additionally, students were introduced to drone piloting and programming learning our new important acronym STUMP.
Uses of drones
The school tackled how to do a basic takeoff and learn important safety rules around flying drones in Northern Territory airspace.
